To meet the challenge of reducing the CO₂ emissions coming from vehicles the automotive industry is now undergoing a period of unprecedented change. Vehicle powertrains are becoming electrified with the integration of electric motors into the driveline, either supporting the internal combustion engine as in the case of hybrids, or completely replacing it, as in NEVs, with a battery or fuel cell as the power source.
